The motivation for our thesis project is to create a community center that combines a museum and a library that will become the centerpiece of education and art in the Miami area. This model is common throughout Europe and we were inspired by it when we noticed that a center of this type does not currently exist in Miami.
The idea is to create a space which will be the crossroads for art, literature, and music. We hope to have the people of Miami redefine their relationship with culture – it will longer be elitist, but mainstream and universal.
We believe that art is the common aspect that will bring diverse people together and unite them aside any differences they may have. Culture is something everyone, in any social class, experiences and we hope that our community center will serve to encourage people to engage with each other through a space which will be the crossroads for art, literature, and music.
