FINAL PORTFOLIO – DESIGN 3
Design Studio 3 (Prof. Katherine Gutierrez)–experiential mapping of Paul Cejas Building, 3D conceptual models based on experiential map+ stitching together to create one building, theater design located on second and third floors of PCA.
Experiential Mapping
Create a map which indicates personal experience at PCA. Must include built information in addition to experience.

3D Concept + Stitching Together
Phase I: Create four three dimensional representations of concepts derived from experiential mapping. Completed models measured 3″ x 3″ maximum.
Phase II: Stitch together four models to create spaces that flow into one another with maximum 1″ addition to facilitate connection.
Phase III: Create base for stitched models that is reactive to the concepts which it supports and upholds.
Theater Design
Phase I: Draw inspiration from the Film, Prospero’s Books, to create four 6″ x 6″ x 6″ cubes housing a three-dimensional representation of each concept. The concepts for each of the spaces were derived from the main character, Prospero, and his collection of magical books.
Phase II: Utilize the second and third floors of the PCA studio building to create a theater to show the film, Prospero’s Books. The four original concepts were to be stitched together to create a cohesive space which was simultaneously representative of the film and the chosen concepts.
Concepts:
- Origin of Language
- Falling
- Evolution and Transformation
- Juxtaposition of Materiality through Shifting
